It happened to me in the recovery room after one of my surgeries. I suddenly felt like I was suffocating but could not move or call for help. A buzzer went off and nurse appeared. She put the oxygen mask back on and I was fine. I was told later it was caused by the muscle relaxant they give so people don't quiver or shake during surgery. My dose had not worn off when it should have - so I know exactly how Mike feels when it happens to him. It's kind of like your brain is no longer connected to your body.
It is a horrible disease. A male cousin upstate has it. His seems to be progressing slowly. He is on SSD for some time now, unable to do any kind of work. His SO had to quit her job to stay home and care for him. The email didn't say why he couldn't be alone all day. I have to ask my cousin Sue (his sister) if anything is new with him. She's a nurse so is the best one for me to ask.
