Kobe, as someone else was quoted, was part of the fabric of L.A. He grew up there, was a phenomenon in high school, joined the Lakers right after graduation and played for one team for 20 years, during which they won several championships. He earned gold medals in two of the Olympics. He wrote a "Dear Basketball" which won the Academy Award for animated short subject. As a father of 4 daughters he spent a lot of time promoting girls' and womens' basketball and started a sports academy. The daughter who died with him showed a lot of talent and had planned to play in college.
I recorded Kimmel last night because I knew his show would be special. Will watch it later.
