Re: Images of here. - Elle
Looking for a suitable place can get discouraging. We ran into similar problems the 2 winters we spent some time looking for a place while snow-birding. One place was nice and worth the money but the view was the back of a business and some dumpsters. The other direction was a tall fence that needed repair on the other person's property. Another place was too close to 441 and the noise was more than I could handle. Traffic 24/7/365. It was close to his sisters, just outside The Villages. It was cute as a button. Actually we were looking for place with a smaller lot than this one but didn't come across any. In our late 60s and early 70s at the time we were both still very active. No health issues to hold us back. We had no idea I would become so disabled or that he would develop heart disease and need a few stents. If only we could see into the future. One thing that bothered me though was all the places we looked at seemed to have Floridians, not other snow-birds. We wouldn't know a soul. Then we started taking long walks from the RV resort and discovered this area of all old mobile homes in a private little community with sand roads... the whole place looking like we went back in time. Almost all the people were friendly. Most were from somewhere in the north. We really liked the area. Lots were 1/4 to 1/2 acre with some being as large as 2 acres. The mature trees. Close to the main road. Lots of good walking trails. No HOA or their charges. It had a neighborhood feel none of the other places we looked at had. Then we stumbled on this place and the rest is history. We already knew several couples living in here and that helped. And of course we knew people from both the RV resorts. Two are in walking distance. That made a big difference in our deciding to buy here.
