I'm not saying that his actions were always benign, he was brought up on charges for a reason. They were the result of these accusations. I'm saying he was acquitted by his peers which means there were extenuating circumstances. Acquittal means in the eyes of the law, he was innocent or they didn't have enough evidence to convict him. Helmet cams at the trial showed him helping the victim according to one account I read and another Seal confessed the killing in another. Trump didn't pardon him but he did allow him to keep his trident and retire at his rank which they wanted to strip. He had served 20 years with commendations and had been on 8 combat duty missions. I'd say that he probably saw enough to become somewhat jaded and there's no age or sex limitation on what ISIS killers were capable of.
From what I can gather, there was no new damning evidence that came out, it was leaked information to the public from the trial itself.
