Re: Something different - Carol/Mama
It is cool. Since it has Alexa, most of what you might want can be voice controlled. It isn't something today that needs to be in every home but as I said, if you have family spread around the country or where you don't see them routinely, it's definitely nice to have. I can see where this could also have the potential to be very useful to seniors living alone to summon help. If there were no "friends" to call, local police stations and other places where help could be obtained could possibly be reached by voice. If the camera was left open like a security camera, the view is pretty broad to see if someone had fallen and the camera focuses on the voice. If it catches on, you'll probably see a lot of manufacturers duplicating and probably improving it.
Carol, yes, technology is expanding all the time and keeping abreast can be expensive. My grandson has the Apple watch and it's like having a computer on your wrist. I'd like, but haven't gotten into, the kind of things the "Nest" and the like can do with all their accessories. The latest is a door lock that you can open or lock with your phone from anywhere. I don't know if I'd be entirely comfortable with something like that but for some people I'd guess it's a good idea.
