The thing is, they are free..but since you don't own them, they get to "harvest the crop" at least until their value is recovered. I don't know all the ins and outs. My house is a prime candidate for them but I think it takes about 15 years before any benefit is seen by the home owner who gets them installed gratis. My daughter is seeing their benefit right away but it cost them a pretty penny. There is also the possibility of roof damage. One of her panels did cause a problem but under guarantees, the company did do the repair work. I mentioned that I'm a fan of solar energy. We've bought good garden lights and they line the perimeter of the backyard fence. The front pillars of the fence have solar caps and the front door light has a solar switch. Most have the ability to replace their batteries when they wear out. We've switched out. They light up every nite but the intensity of their brightness is irregular and often surprising. You'd think that after a full day of bright sunlight that they'd be at their most powerful but that is often not the case.
