You may want to cook for yourself if you can or buy those healthy (yes they exist) frozen dinners for yourself rather than eat unhealthy gourmet food. Your daughters may not realize how unhealthy that kind of food is. Maybe one would be willing to make healthy lunches and dinners for you.
I didn't find the weather in NYC all that stressful. I didn't know anything else. I had warm boots and clothing to cope with the colder days. Ice and snow were not major issues for me as they were not daily fare like upstate NY. My family up there lives with what you describe for months at a time. Day after day. If the streets were really bad I called Lindsy Cab Service. In all those years I only missed one day's work. The snow was so bad that morning even the buses couldn't run. My car was buried by a snow plow. Summers in NYC were not bad compared to TN and here in FL. The heatwaves in NYC lasted days. Here and in TN they last for weeks or months.
What stressed me out in NYC was the public transportation when I was young. The subways mostly. I finally had to quit that rat race and find work in Queens. The crowds. The traffic everywhere you went. The general congestion. The long lines everywhere. I found that more stressful than anything else.
I don't know if that stress would have shortened my life or not.
