Thank you. As we drive around and see other communities, more and more I'm happy with our choice. The majority of land around here is made up of "communities" rather than just private homes..not that they aren't here but most of them are small tract type homes with not much land around them. The communities are usually large areas made up of a lot of acres and new ones seem to be springing up all the time. They range from the very expensive to the modest (as ours is). Newer ones do not seem to dedicate as much space for vegetation but utilize it for building or parking. A friend bought a brand new town house in one at almost NY price level. I haven't been inside it yet but have visited the development and it would not be my choice to invest that kind of money in. First of all, they are all townhouses..bedrooms and bath on second floor. For an older person, and we all get old, having to climb stairs is a no-no. There was very little area to walk around that was just greenery and it just felt overly crowded. He's had it for only a little over a year and he's already looking to see what's being built elsewhere. Another mutual friend is planning to get a Florida place in the area. I'm encouraging him to look in this community and buy the largest and cheapest one offered and upgrade it as necessary. Once he gets here, he can look around for something grander if he still thinks he has to have it since he'd like a private home. HOA's have their drawbacks but you don't have to worry about maintenance outside of your unit.
