Other people prefer the city and bright lights. That's OK too. I doesn't explain why nothing is done with these MHs though. I've asked just about everyone I know here why so many places look abandoned, no for sale or for rent signs and no one knows the answer.
I hope my son and SO do take it over temporarily. We have so many old people here and many are not in good health, many are snow-birds or travel a lot. I don't know who would be a good candidate as I think of those I know. The couple who own the place can't as he never knows when he has to work (same problem as my son) and his wife is in worse shape than I am what with 3 surgeries on her spine. She can barely walk these days. One woman here calls this end of the community God's waiting room.
Was your cancer E- or E+? Mine is endometrial cancer E+ and metted to my pelvic bone where it's very difficult to treat. Twice they got it to NED but it came back. This last time there was little response to chemo, including the nightmare they call Doxil which many people can't endure. My Onc took me off it because the side effects were nearing the danger point. The sores and blisters in my mouth prevented eating or drinking enough to sustain life for long. The pain in my hip increased when I walked so it didn't seem to be helping. The sores healed up and I'm fine now.
Doxil is an anti-cancer ("antineoplastic" or "cytotoxic") chemotherapy drug. It is the drug doxorubicin encapsulated in a closed lipid sphere (liposome). Doxil is classified as an "anthracycline antibiotic."
Now I'm on Keytruda which is a immune system stimulant that has killed more than a few people. Their ImSys turned on them instead of the cancer cells - or turned on both. Yet some people were cured or put into long-term remission. It had no effect on others at all. I guess I'll know in Jan if it's making a difference.
If no difference I'm going on the metabolic treatment. My Onc' says he'll go along with it and write me the prescriptions needed. Believe it or not many people are doing better on that than chemo and these other drugs pushed on us by the drug companies. I did the research on the NIH website so it's not woo or quackery.
If I believed in the Gods I would pray you lived many many years with NED, never having to deal with cancer again.
