Mexico paying for the wall was a catchy campaign slogan although he felt a wall was a necessity. Anyone with a grain of sense would know you couldn't take it literally. No one can promise another country will pick up a tab they haven't agreed to. I so stated at the time..the wall wouldn't be a literal wall across the entire border and if Mexico contributed it would be in the form of tariffs or the like. It might be said that Mexico is currently somewhat contributing to the wall by holding migrants back from reaching the border. BTW - a new section of wall is being started in southern Texas as reported this week.
Did you know the Trump had a noteboard in his office with all his campaign promises that he crosses off when they have been addressed? Some he's been successful with and some he's not.
Healthcare is one of the unsuccessful ones. He's removed the tax obligation for those opting not to buy insurance which is a plus for the public but replacing Obamacare completely hasn't happened. Not to say it wasn't addressed but any substitute proposed didn't pass Congress. A new Executive Order has been signed to enhance Medicare Advantage plans where coverage is through a private insurance company rather than the government. I've been in one since I was eligible for Medicare and so far it's been better than Medicare alone but I haven't had any major health problems. Since I'm getting older and something can be expected to pop up at any time, I looked into Medicare plus gap insurance this year. At this age, the premiums for gap insurance are so high that the insurer itself advised against getting it. Medicare Advantage programs cover drugs and extra things, depending on where you live, could be "free" but in Suffolk County runs $78 per month. A primary doctor runs $l5 a visit, a specialist $45. So far its been satisfactory but you have to use a doctor in network and that could be limiting. I have been satisfied with those I've used so far. The one time that a doctor out of network had to be used, it was worked out to enable coverage for him.
