There was a time that I "looked down" on clothes from stores like Walmart. I wore only designer labels..not really high end but "better" things. When I was with Calvin Klein, I realized that they were not necessarily better, it was all about the label. Better to me is the quality of the fabric, it's dye-fastness, sewing details, matching patterns at the seams, trimming of the threads, etc. I tend to basic classics and don't follow the seasonal design changes. When push came to shove, I realized that I paid more attention to the above qualities when I produced the garments sold in stores like Walmart. (They are still producing for Walmart and its more than fifty years since those days.) T-shirt and jeans are what I live in these days. Dress-up is a new or newer, less faded set, maybe a new colored top and a piece of jewelry with a change over from sneakers to dress shoes. Even with dress-down, I've never felt out-of-place anywhere I go..few people dress up these days.
