I would venture to say that an unwanted pregnancy would not be the underlying reason for contemplating suicide unless it's conception was so horrific that it left the person mentally unbalanced or depressed.
I didn't have a problem with NY laws as they were even tho pro-life. 24 weeks is ample time to have an abortion if one wants one for any reason. It would be exceptional not to know by then. I do have a problem with it being extended to full term. I also have a problem with it no longer being criminal if someone causes an unborn infant to die through violence even if its mother survives.
Adopting a child isn't easy. It takes a lot of money, time, specific home conditions and investigations to be acceptable and it can take years. I don't think there are many healthy, adoptable babies lacking adoptive parents. Because of the difficulty in adopting, in my family alone, we have three Korean adoptions and two Russian ones. A friend adopted a Korean child before she was able to get an American one. Special needs or older children can languish in foster homes. It takes special people to adopt them with the problems they may have.
