There are millions in this country who can't afford those co-payments. Private emergency places don't exist everywhere. We have "urgent care" walk in places here but I was told all they really do is slap on a band-aid so to speak, charge you and send you to a real ER if necessary. And I have to question a neighborhood clinic that has what real ERs in Hosps have. If they don't, then they're not fixed for real emergencies. Better to go on to your local Hosp's ER.
She is lowering her sights. She's applied for office positions at UPS and I think WalMart. Both pay fairly well for office workers and provide bennies. I don't know where else she's applied. I know she spends time online on those job sites plus looks up places independently to see what jobs they may have available. I doubt she'll find the jobs here she's enjoyed in NYC or make the same income. She's accepting that.
