"This article is full of serious inaccuracies. There is no consideration of 'castration' here - because that's not how the medical process works at seven. It's too young for surgical action. The most invasive option being considered is the use of puberty-blocking medication, which is sometimes used in cases such as this to allow the subject to mature before any irreversible action is taken. The drugs are temporary, and normal development resumes as soon as their use ceases. Doctors don't just go around chopping up children with gleeful abandon - they wait until the child is an adult before they even consider surgery."
And apparently the mother, if the story is true and not just propaganda, is off her rocker, desperately desires a daughter, craves attention, or perhaps wants to get-even with her ex-husband for some reason.
