Re: They're making progress.... (and a car)
A car is a necessity down there but it makes me laugh when I think of what I drive, a 2001 Honda with just 20,000 miles on it. When I first got it new, we had two other cars so it was only used when we were going somewhere. The other two, a Toyota Celica was mine but uncomfortable for my husband, the other, a Pontiac was his..good running but an abomination to look at. The Celica eventually needed a muffler but my husband quoted me such a high price to fix it, it was sidelined yet I refused to let it go, I loved it. When he passed, I had three cars to deal with. The Pontiac had an unfound windshield leak and every time it rained in a certain direction, the passenger side floor became a pool that had to be drained and dried out. I gave it to a boy going away to college. A neighbor's father needed a station car and I gave the Celica to him. I could have cried when he told me it cost him less than $100 to fix it doing the work himself. Most of the 20,000 mileage on the Honda was put on by me driving locally but its seldom driven these days yet kept up to date. George does most of the driving these days with a late model SUV with all the bells and whistles.
