A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood - NOT

Maybe some of you saw it on the news. A 26 year-old man shot his father and brother to death and wounded his mother in an apartment building a few miles away. He drove across the Valley to a gas station where his ex-girlfriend worked, shot and killed her, too, and critically wounded her co-worker. I often pass that station when I go to Burbank, it has a car wash I thought I might stop at one day. Then he came back to this end of the Valley and robbed a man at gunpoint at a bank A.T.M. across the street from my daughter's bank, I am amazed he didn't kill him. He went back across the Valley, ditched the car, got on a bus whose line runs adjacent to the street I drive several times a week. While on the bus, for no reason he shot a passenger, a total stranger, in the head, killing him. He walked off calmly and made his way back to his home neighborhood, a block away from the Lowe's I shopped at a few days ago. It was near this location that he was finally caught 12 hours after it all began.
We didn't know where this guy was going to turn up next. His crimes were committed in close and familiar places. The whole Valley breathed a sigh of relief when he was caught. He was taken to the local hospital about three miles away, and then to jail. It was a terribly shocking day.
