Add the usual COL to that and you can see why people are living in tents, decrepit RVs and MHs in dreadful condition. Others in all manner of shelters in forested areas. There may be "jobs galore" but they pay little and there are few or no bennies. Child care is so high now that if a poor young couple have kids and no relative to watch them, must try and live on one low wage salary. Sadly, there aren't enough rundown places available. Some are forced to live in their cars.
The mentally ill and addicted are a whole other ballgame.
I don't see an answer to this problem of homelessness unless the Gov builds low-income housing and a lot of it.
