Re: Immigration from the inside - Elle
Never mind GP or RW, we have a large group of Polish immigrants in the town next to us and I had an experience a couple of weeks ago. My daughter and I were going to a restaurant in a small shopping center and spotted a Polish bakery a few doors down and decided to stop in. They had an assortment of homemade Polish items beyond the breads, etc. All the labels were in Polish and I couldn't determine what I was looking at. They were quite busy and I called out could anyone tell me what I was looking at in English before I go to the checkout. Good thing too..neither of the women behind the counter spoke English. Not speaking the language is an indication of a recent arrival but not necessarily an illegal. Hispanics and Asians probably are the most prevalent entry abusers and their appearance is more recognizable so they would be checked faster than a European would.
