There was a great turnover rate at that time, people were on the move averaging every two years, yet the places were still OK. I'm sorry to be so blunt, but the neighborhoods were low income, but white. Nancy, you must remember. North Hollywood, Van Nuys, Reseda. All the places now inundated with illegals, families living together in crowded conditions, no one owning anything, or caring for properties, landlords not bothering to fix things because nobody knows and nobody cares, buildings needing maintenance and not getting it, trash all around because I do believe they have a different attitude about littering, vendors setting up shop on the streets, and hot foods being prepared and sold on corners. And the more they congregate together, the worse the neighborhoods become. I know North Hollywood. I used to live there. I know Van Nuys, it used to be the upscale shopping hub of the Valley, I know Reseda, it used to be considered suburban and my daughter's godparents lived there in a lovely little suburban home. Now much of these areas are truly off limits for anyone other than illegals. You have to be careful of gangs, and drunks driving old junkers with out insurance. They have made it that way.
