Re: Uber. ... Ellie
I'm well aware of a gypsy cab's shortcomings. I never had a problem but I breathed a sigh of relief when I got home. I lived in Middle Village and usually took an express bus home that dropped me on my corner. However the last one was 6:00 pm and I'd often be working late and miss it but not late enough to call for the car service the company provided. The 7 train to Woodside or the IND local to Woodhaven were the options and then a city bus. Woodhaven was closer to home but the station tunnel after rush hour was intimidating. Woodside gave a better option of getting a yellow cab but when that failed, there were always gypsy cabs. Many the nite when I finished up at 9 or so, I'd wait until 10 to leave so that I could use the door to door car service. I lived within 15 minutes of midtown without traffic. I now live on LI with a 50 minute LIRR ride when I commuted, it took less actual travel time to get home out here then it took for me to get home with public transportation living in Middle Village.
