I didn't expect that they'd easily find jobs, at least the kind they are looking for. They don't appear to have any unique skills and they have a lot of company in people in the same position.
I agree that online job shopping is a lot more difficult than selling yourself in person with the number of applications that the recruiter receives. Another is what they might be lacking. They are not Florida residents yet, they must be living in the State 6 months and a day continuously to qualify. I'd imagine a resident would get priority. The second thing I've heard that employers want is someone who speaks Spanish as a second language, especially in the further south areas. They are also older and that was a deterrent for me the last time I looked for a job at 50 even here in NY where jobs are plentiful. Last but not least, is their location and how far they can commute for a job. It's also off-season so places would be using the least amount of employees as possible. In short, there's a lot of obstacles to overcome and how ingenious they are in their search is important.
