We contacted an agent in the area, showed her places we found..just what we were looking for, what was acceptable and what was not. She took us around to different places. Some were beautifully furnished and I loved the them but they involved stairs or the view was the parking lot - some had a lift but were a long walk to the apartment, a problem if you were lugging something. Many of the places didn't take dogs and that was another turn-off. We were only down for a week and I was getting very discouraged. My daughter said when you find one you love, you'll know it and she was right. When we saw our place, we knew it was a perfect fit. The grounds are lovely, really nicely furnished with good furniture in a style that I would have chosen for myself, no stairs and affordable HOA. It cost a lot more than we had intended but still within reason.
Most places will not show a prospective buyer without an agent. A good one (ours was excellent) saves a lot of wasted time and is helpful. I had contacted several..but she was the one who made the effort to get the sale.
