The company I spent most of my career with, had 2 private jets that acted as "taxi's" to their 13 or so manufacturing facilities scattered across the south. I wore a lot of hats during my tenure. I was mainly responsible for one in TN but at any given time could be called to any one of them. You could reserve the plane for a flight or a spot on one as long as they didn't have a prior commitment. The fondest memories I have of them was having one of them take us to New Orleans on a Friday afternoon. You felt like one of the rich and famous departing from one on the tarmac. I'd spend Fri nite and Saturday seeing the sights and take the Red Eye home on Sunday morning.
We lost a brand new one shortly after it was put into service and five people were killed. It was thought that the pilot had a heart attack while coming in for a landing and happened so fast that the co-pilot couldn't take over.
