Re: Kvetch - Mama
I had an extended warranty on my first Sears Kenmore washer and dryer as I had four little ones, two in diapers. It wasn't a bad deal, and I had the washer 18 years. After that, I never bought extended warranties, and that was OK, too. But my last purchase of an LG TV taught me different. Things are not made the way they used to be, especially LG. I only had that TV 3-4 years before it went bye-bye. The current TV for the family room is Samsung. (I'll never buy ANYTHING LG again.) Having just come off the LG debacle, I bought the Samsung extended warranty. It was $10 a year for 5 years, $49.00. That was OK with me. That TV is the one Mike watches 24/7. If anything happens, it's supposed to be repaired or replaced for the next 5 years. I just wanted my copy of the contract.
By the way, the Samsung I have in my bedroom took a ____ one month after the warranty expired. It was a year old. I called Samsung, and they were nice enough to replace the TV (the repair would have been extensive) although I was one month out of warranty. Had they not, I'd have had to replace a year old TV. That's another reason I bought Samsung for the family room.
