My daughter's friend Joanne is only 53, but has had a horrible few years including cancer, stroke which precipitated a seizure disorder (no more driving), a problem of some sort where her blood pressure drops for no apparent reason, and now needs a spinal surgery. Her sister-in-law, a holier-than-thou, controlling church goer was driving and ran the car off the road and into a ditch. Joanne suffered shoulder, chest, and back injuries. She lives about 30 miles away (with her family now), but once a month my daughter picks her up and brings her here for a few days for a change of scene. She walks with difficulty, has eye problems since the stroke, mostly sits in bed watching TV, is quiet as a mouse. Her visits are timed with local doctor's appointments and/or tests, so my daughter takes her. She has one son who she spoiled rotten, she was a good earner when she worked. He has been taken over by his girlfriend's family with whom he lives (he has two kids with her), and seems to have abandoned his mother. Knowing Joanne since she was a teen, I know there is no really good reason for it. Very sad situation. Borrowing from Facebook, she needs prayers.
