I consider myself very fortunate. I embarked on a new life when I turned 70 and almost 14 years later still am enjoying unexpected pleasant surprises. My health has been relatively good up until now. In the past year, I'm feeling the pangs of aging and any new twinge brings an uncertain apprehension but I'm still here which is more than I can say for the majority of my lifetime friends. My newer friends, those that I hang out with, are closer to my kids age and some of them are experiencing more aches and pains than I. I do not attempt the more athletic chores that I used to do without thinking (although I did one day this week) but even the simplest things have become challenging, e.g. if I sit or kneel on the ground to do gardening, I cannot get up without assistance.
