Keto is really a change in how a person eats. It's actually more than a "diet." Once the weight is lost the person wants to lose, they can eat more carbs until they reach the point where they start to gain again. But carbs are the problem where obesity is concerned. We don't even need to eat them at all since our body can make them from the protein we eat. However we will still get carbs in the veggies and fruit we eat. More than enough to keep from making our own from protein. Some Drs are using these diets to get diabetics off the pills or insulin. Type-2 that is. My BIL kept his diabetes under control with diet alone for many years - then he fell off the wagon.
It's a diet anyone can stay on if they can control their desire for carby foods. Unless I want to be overweight the rest of my life I wont have much choice.
