What the new law permits is ending a life directly albeit with some caveats that can easily be glossed over, in some cases, can even be performed by someone other than a licensed doctor. I've had friends who had to terminate one of a set of twins, so one would survive. three who had lost inviable babies only days old and one who delivered by Caesarian at 25 weeks whose little girl is now 4 years old.
It would be a very rare situation where someone didn't know they were pregnant within the previous allowable limits. Most abnormalities can be detected within allowable limits and even in vitro surgery can be performed before birth.
