Re: Interview at the Border - Carol
What's newsworthy is the extent of the border crossings. If people were more aware of how bad its become and how it might effect their own lives in only a few short years, they might make more of a noise to have something done. If it's not in their own backyard, it doesn't phase them. One thing I hadn't thought of that DML brought up was housing. If the streets of San Francisco and other places are loaded with homeless now because a single person, even working can't afford the high rents unless they have a great job, it will get worse. Where most Americans are accustomed to living in their own space, these people are not. E.g. a one-bedroom apartment rents for about $1000 or so. A third world family will rent that apartment, may even be willing to pay even more. The bedroom and living room will be divided into bed spaces and they'll divide the cost into affordable chunks. An interesting and scary theory that is already factual in many places.
