I have traveled widely in this country. Have I seen any other place in this great United States that I might even slightly prefer to California? No. You haven't even been here. You would not have any inkling of life here. I'll just say there's a good reason so many people want to be here. Especially someone like me, who loves the sun and hates the rain and cold with a passion. Who likes to be able to live every day in any way I like, and not be hampered by the weather. People can go to the beach and ski in the mountains in one day. There is so much to see and do. The landscape is beautiful, we coexist with nature while having the accommodations of the city close by. My children are here, they've tried other places, and always felt SoCal was best. I am grateful I was able to live my life here, and would never go anywhere else. I would lose so much more than I would gain, except for money. What would I do with all that California money? Buy a half dozen homes? And look out the window at the rain? Maybe take two or three showers a day due to the humidity.
Nancy, I passed by your neighborhood yesterday, and the areas off the Golden State Freeway. It was beautiful, the landscaping that lines the roadway is mature and full and blooming every color of the rainbow. The hills are a treat to the eye, never boring.
California's a blue state, and the governor is very liberal. Do you really think I, at 80, am going to riot in the streets? Just a minute, let me get my cane.
