There are some indoor interests I have or had. I love indoor tropical plants. I used to crochet and quilted for years. For several years I made mini dollhouses. I had aquariums. Those were bad weather interests. I will probably take up quilting again because I can't take the summer heat and humidity. I have to find something to do on those days it's impossible to be outside.
I wish RRs family had interests I could share with them. We don't see his nieces very often. His sisters don't have any hobbies or pass-times. It's mainly polite Southern woman surface communication. The kind of conversations where nothing much is said and you never get to really know the people. RR's mother was a guilter and gardener so she was interesting to talk with. She's gone now.
As for the younger ones, it's almost all talk about their kids and/or grand-kids. It may not be a popular stance but I admit I have next to no interest in hearing about someone's kids. Their schools. Their teachers. Their activities. When young I didn't bore people talking endlessly about my son. I tended to avoid anyone whose life revolved around their church or kids. Of course in NYC that was a lot easier than in the bible belt.
