George and I just returned from a week in Florida. It was not a vacation, it was a search for a place to snowbird to and eventually call home. We were primarily interested in the Palm County area where we already have a few friends. There were many to be seen but few that will accept a pet. Some were on a second floor and involved stairs to climb without a lift. Others were reminiscent of a project and while the amenities were multiple in the complex, the view was of the parking lot. We also wanted to start out with a furnished place, replacing what was needed at our leisure. By the third day, we were getting pretty discouraged at what we were seeing. My daughter offered encouragement, "you'll know it when you see it" and she was so right. We are under contract for what I'd term a villa. It's in a lovely community with lakes and paths. It has two heated swimming pools, tennis and pickleball courts and a very nice clubhouse with active 55+ residents. It's pet friendly for a small dog or indoor cat. Not a hubbub of activities as some of the larger communities seem to offer but enough for me.
The frosting on the cake are the furnishings. Contemporary country. It is good quality and in good condition. I even like most of the pictures on the walls. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, a washing machine and dryer, a garbage disposal and dishwasher as well as the other kitchen appliances one might expect. In fact, there is just about everything one might need including dishes, towels and linens, a bring your toothbrush kind of place. It has a screened in Florida room with white wicker furniture. I saw it and as my daughter had said, I'd know it when I saw it. We've already had it fully inspected, a few minor things need to be done but no deal breakers. I'll post some pictures once we get past the closing.
