Memorial Ryan Frame

For the many friends of Ryan, he passed yesterday.
He was a man who loved his dogs and fellow man.
Was a mentor to many dog people.
Was a genuine friend and the man that got me going down the path of sporting dogs. Probably knew more about Setters than any man today.

The field trial community has lost a great patron to field trials. Some years ago Ryan came to the kennel to work with me. I saw a person who was dedicated to the life style of a bird dog trainer. He had a great passion for the dogs. Every dog that came to the kennel fell in love with Ryan. He had a calm caring demeanor.
Ryan had a passion for the history of field trials and the dogs. He devoted hours to his films. He filmed many dogs that went on to be champions. Besides the hours of training clips he filmed many field trials cover dog, walking shooting, and some horseback shooting dog trials.
Ryan had a way with people. A lot of time he had them laughing and having a good time talking bird dogs or what was happen g at the trial.
Ryan and I made a great team in field trials He became a great asset. As time went on he developed health problems and eventually he moved back to live with his brother rob. He still worked dogs for people or gave advice on how to work bird dogs.
I will always remember the time at the lake states championship. I was braced with Scott Chaffee. I was running a dog called Wrongway (Chester). That day Chester was on his own. He was backwards and lateral. When we picked up I was really upset with Chester. I saw Ryan talking to Scott. Then they started laughing. Ryan came over to me and said to calm down. Remember Chet is a young dog. Then he told me what Scott said…I started laughing Scott said he was appropriately named “wrongway”. Just one of many memories of Ryan’s personality.
Ryan will be missed. He worked with me for close to 20 years. He was somewhat like a brother to me. He is in gods hands now. His spirit is among the many past filed trialers and those famous dogs of years past. Rest in peace my friend.

You had to love Ryan and his friendly demeanor. Never had a bad word for anyone. And a memory for dogs and people that was phenomenal. He will be missed..

I didn't know Ryan well but when I did run into him at trials he was great to talk to, very humorous and a wealth of knowledge about grouse trials and dogs.
My condolences to Ryan's family.

So sad to hear.
Unassuming and at the same time bigger than life. He gave so much; the puppy books, the vids. Encyclopedic cd knowledge.

Three years ago our family was introduced to Ryan. My husband Thomas and daughter Haley knew him best. But what I want everyone to know is that Ryan was a sweet soft spoken modest guy that loved dogs and became not only a trainer but a friend to our family. He will always be remembered with fond memories. Ryan thank you for everything. Schuster will be loved in our home and Margo, Maple and Schuster continue training & running trails in your memory.

Well I could not possibly write enough words to describe how much Ryan loved grouse dogs and coverdog trials. (he could write that much but I cannot). Many probably remember when this board started nearly 25 years ago Ryan was a very frequent poster on the board. Ryan started and joined in hundreds of discussions about grouse trials and grouse dogs. Ryan's love and passion for this sport and the dogs that we compete with was evident. I very much appreciated all of the online and offline discussions I had with Ryan over the years and miss them. RIP buddy.

Ryan sad news this morning was a very good freind always a smile and a hug.he knew all the setter lines there were.very good writer,reported gn.invitational all the ch in pa.lost pond in ny.and many in michigan.didnt matter where he was, what state he was in if ask to report he was there to help.always a positive reporter for every dog.always making videos.and at the end had take outs showing the crazy things that happened with the dogs it was always great at the end watching the dogs.when I was younger marshaling we would walk and talk about what we were seeing in the dog braces.he helped so many young handlers.it was amazing how much he knew about setter breeding.he was a True gentleman ,never heard him say a cross word about anyone.he was a true asset to cover dog world.rip my freind you'll be missed
