Lodging for the Amateur Grouse Championship is becoming a nightmare due to PSU having their annual White Out game the same weekend. There is limited motels rooms left in both Clearfield and Altoona, and some rooms left are price gouging due to this game. There are limited rooms left in Dubois, some at inflated prices, and 1 room left at the Travel Inn in Philipsburg. if you are looking for a motel to stay, get one quickly.
Currently the Woodland campground(30 minute drive) has a few sites available. If you have a camper and cant find a campsite, I might have another possibilty if there there is enough interest.
I've also been looking on VBRO and AirBnB websites. There are some rentals available within 45 minutes if people would like to join up together for the weekend. Most places arent dog friendly, but I can always check to see if dogs would be allowed to stay outside. I got a call this afternoon from a person dropping out of the trial. He had a room reserved at the motel in Philipsburg, 15 minutes from the trial. Single room with a double bed.
This room is up for grabs for the first person to contact me, and I'll then put you in touch with the person holding the room. If no one bites but the weekend, he'll just cancel the room. Great opportunity for a person(s) to grab a room close to the trial grounds.
For those coming in, looking for a place with a travel trailer, I have secured 5 spaces at our local gun club, 20 minutes from the trial grounds. There is no electric or sewer available, but we can fill tanks up with water upon your arrival. If interested get hold of me and I'll get a space saved for you.
