    The Passing of Al McKinney

Posted by Joe Cammisa on 12/4/2022, 3:55 pm

With great sadness I make this announcement.

Al McKinney passed away on Thursday December 1st. Al was with his wife Patricia in their home when he died.

No services are scheduled but cards and condolences could be sent to:

    Pat McKinney
    134 Ettwien St
    Pittsburgh Pa 15217

Al will long time be remembered for his service to Beaver Valley Pointer and Setter Club, The Pennsylvania Walking Shooting Dog Association and the Pennsylvania Grouse Trial Clubs. He had a unique abilty to come up with a dog's name i.e.: PMS, Doggone Samantha, Police Woman, Dui etc.., usually from reading the horse racing form.

Al traveled around the Grand National with his best friends Tom Vassen and LLoyd Davidson, creating an entertaining situation everywhere they went.

He long supported The National Walking Shooting Dog Futurity, serving as the Vice president for many years.

He will be missed and remembered by many......

I must have know Al McKinney since 1982 (40 Years) and feel terrible that he is gone. He really helped the Beaver Valley Pointer & Setter Club. He and Dale Martin didn't always see eye to eye but Al was respected in the Field Trial Community. May Al Rest In Peace.

Sorry to hear this Joe. One could write a book about Al & his travels to the Gladwin Field Trial Grounds. So much fun and so many memories. Sad to say those times are gone forever I'm afraid in todays environment. Those of us that were there are blessed to have known him.

        God Speed Al

          Such sad news.

I am at a loss for words. I knew Al for over 30 years, even before I started in field trials. He will be missed by everyone.
