A few notes to help things along for this weekend's MGDA Spring Trial:
1. The Open Shooting Dog (OSD) stake will begin on Friday, April 15th. Participants should meet at the “clubhouse" (5399 240th St. Ogilvie, MN 56538) no later than 7:15 AM, with a departure to the south courses (course 4) by 7:25 for a breakaway at 8 AM. The entire OSD stake will be completed on Friday.
2. The Open Derby (OD) will start Friday at the conclusion of the OSD stake. We will only run the first two braces of the OD Friday, with the remainder on Saturday. OD participants are welcome to walk the OSD braces on Friday, and OD participants should meet at the “clubhouse” by 2 PM Friday afternoon. The OD braces will start on the south courses.
3. At the conclusion of the OSD and first two OD braces, please stick around for a cookout. Should be a great time and we hope many of you can attend. Warm lunches are also provided Friday and Saturday.
4. OD stakes will commence (braces 3-8) first thing Saturday morning on the south courses. Please meet at the clubhouse by 7:15 AM, and be prepared for a breakaway on the south courses at 8 am.
5. The Amateur Shooting Dog (ASD) stake will commence on the south courses once the OD derby stakes have finished their 4th brace of the day (two on the south courses and two on the boy Scout courses).
6. The Puppy stake will commence on Saturday afternoon - Time to be determined.
7. With the forest roads still in "early season” condition, it is imperative we minimize car/truck travel whenever possible. Due to our permitting, no more than 3 trucks are allowed past the gates at anytime, and we will provide a flatbed trailer with dog boxes to help move people/dogs to the courses.
8. Finally, to receive points for your placement(s), you must be a member of the AFTCA. Membership is relatively affordable ($25) and you can sign up (or renew) here: https://www.aftca.org/members-area/member-profile/.
Friday night there will be a cook out put on by the MGDA held at the clubhouse after the conclusion of the day’s running. Food provided by MGDA/David Moore.
