Entry sheet is filling up fast. Thanks to you early birds for getting your job done in timely fashion. Field trial clubs like your kind.
Late stragglers not so much like for you. BUT... you have until March 23 to enter. Drawing at 7pm. Running order will be posted here that evening.
Rather sizeable entry is expected for a weekend trial, so a fair amount of coordination will be necessary on game day. More details to come forth later in the week after getting a handle on total entries and how many courses we can use.
Generally speaking, most of the shooting dogs will run on Saturday and spill over into Sunday. A rather sizeable derby will have to start and finish on Sunday. Logistics of the derby will be determined later in the week.
Snow is mostly out of the woods, but the rain storm today is not helping a couple of our flood prone courses. We'll see later in the week how many courses we have to work with. Ahh the joy of spring trials.
Broke away at 11 degrees, with bright shine warming things to 26 degrees by end of the day.
Normal amount of birds, I suppose, for a spring trial. Eau Claire County Forest did her job as usual.
Field trials are best when there are more people, than dogs. And that is what we had this past weekend. Thanks for all that came to run, observe, participate, and judge. (Too numerous to mention); I think at lunch break on Sunday I counted about 40 people with even more coming and going. Not bad for a frigid weekend trial in March.

Wilson Park, Gasline, Highline, HorseCreek, County H, SD Jake.
But HorseCreek and County H courses are prone to spring flooding.
We will make a decision on Friday night / Saturday morning if they will be useable for the Shooting Dog Stake or not.
So, we could be duplicating some courses on Saturday, to get in 6 or 7 shooting dog braces. Not ideal, but that is reality. We will pick up the Shooting Dog stake on Sunday morning, where we leave off on Saturday, to keep things in proper rotation.
Derby courses are up in the air as well. But one way or another we will start it on Sunday and finish it on Sunday with as many courses as are useable. But certainly a few of the courses will have to be duplicated, for a stake of this size.
We will meet each morning at the Wilson Township Park, on the north end of Hamilton Falls Road.
The derby on Sunday may start in a completely different spot than that, but for sure we will meet at this location. A club chaperone will drive the derby train out from there at 7:45 am
