Does it take a Woodcock find to win or can you win with grouse find

Terry, in an amateur championship according to the AFTCA rules and guidelines, page 48. States, that the gamebirds in which the championship implies (woodcock) must be pointed to be named champion.

Terry, after further discussion with the AfTCA body, they have informed me that a pointed Grouse or Woodcock can be used to name a Champion in the International Amateur woodcock championship. The Michigan Woodcock Championship still requires a Woodcock find to be declared winner.

Hi Bill... The reason the Michigan Woodcock still requires A Woodcock to win it, is that when we were granted that Championship by the American Field we were instructed that if we ever tried to add Grouse to the mix we'd lose it.
                  Just a heads up.
                  Roger J.

Thanks Roger, i understand. The most recent inquiry to bird specifics was only in regards to the International Amateur trial. Apparently any bird could be used to win the international Amateur woodcock championship now. The AFTCA has yet to confirm this in print. I confirmed this to be true through conversation with AFTCA board members. The AFTCA is looking to put this in print to avoid confusion with prior guidelines.
