Am posting on behalf of our club President Paul Ober ON BEHALF OF THE NATIONAL RED SETTER FIELD TRIAL CLUB, INC., I REGRET TO INFORM ALL POTENTIAL PARTICIPANTS THAT THE SPRING 2021 NATIONAL OPEN AND THE AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS, THE 49TH RED SETTER FUTURITY, and TOGETHER WITH ALL SUPPORTING STAKES AND ACTIVITIES, ARE POSTPONED TO A DATE AND LOCATION TO BE DETERMINED. IT IS WITH EXTREME REGRET AFTER SERIOUS CONSIDERATIONS AND LENGTHY CONVERSATIONS THAT THIS DECISION WAS MADE. THE PREDICTED LIGHTNING WITH HEAVY RAIN STORMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE GROUNDS GIVES CAUSE TO FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF THE PARTICIPANTS, BOTH HUMAN AND ANIMAL. As a club, our primary focus and foremost concern has always been to host a trial of the highest caliber, with the safety of all the participants and their charges, as well as all those supporting and attending. We also strive to ensure the utmost in sportsmanship, comradery and fellowship and at the end of a hard day’s competition we all sit down and enjoy a good meal and drinks—together. The addition of COVID-19 makes this impossible. Nothing about this past year has been normal for any of us and at this time we simply cannot insure any of these things. As the efforts to get past this pandemic and the restrictions are eased, we fully expect to return to not only normalcy but to hosting an even better Championship and Futurity event later this spring.
