A big week of wild bird trials is being planned to be run in Arcadia this spring.As many in wild bird community will remember that the North American Woodcock Futurity due to unforeseen circumstances was unable to run last fall.The Maritime Bird Dog Club to ensure that these derby dogs would be given an opportunity to still compete in this prestigious futurity reached out to the South County FTC and asked if we could host it on the Arcadia grounds.We gladly will oblige and will likely have five or six hopefully bird laiden courses to showcase the young hopefuls.The futurity is scheduled to begin on March 17th,the judges are to be Jimmy Levesque and Tim Cavanaugh.If you own a derby dog reach out to futurity secretary Joe Dahl for details if your derby is eligible to compete.Being that the 17 th is St Patrick’s Day the MBDC will host a corned beef and cabbage dinner and I would bet you may even see a leprechaun there.
March 18,19 the SCFTC is going to host Tha New England amateur Woodcock Classic.The big news is we are having a 1000$$ guaranteed purse split 500,300,200!Eric Rizza and John Olfson have agreed to judge that for us.
Monday the 20th we will begin the Southern New England Woodcock Championship with Kris Nordby and Doug Dix judging.
At the conclusion of the Championship we will run the Joel Collier Derby Classic with Jamie Nee and Billy Bonnetti officiating.And lastly we be hosting our 100% payout Cover Dog Puppy Classic with Kelsey and Lanny Dellinger looking over the youngsters.Alot of planning has and will continue to go into these trials and look for particulars very soon on the UKC website and magazine.All these events are proudly sponsored by Nestle Purina and our thanks as always go out to them and Greg Blair for there continued support of Wild Bird Trials.
