The Burn team was trying to get the courses burned the last 3 weeks but do to high winds and other environmental factors this was Not accomplished. They requested a burn this week prior to the Great Lakes Championship, after negotiations with myself and personnel from the Michiagn DNR we agreed to hold off until next Monday as the earliest attempt at a burn.
The burn is essential in every aspect of promoting a quality venue for present and future Field Trials on the Silo course.Paul Renius, Tom Vanecek and Bill Darr have all volunteered time and equipment to try and slow the growth of invasive species and keep the cover down to a acceptable height the last 3 years.
The course is in superb condition and hopefully The U.S. Complete Great Lakes Championship will have some outstanding performances. We have 37 dogs entered and we intend to start at 730 Saturday morning and get in as many braces Sturday as possible. The DNR hopes to burn monday morning.2 long days in the saddle for judges and participants.I will have water buckets on the course but I advise all to carry water with you. Please be ready to run your dog and good luck.
