The main reason we play in the CJIBL is to win the trophy. As I look at the CJIBL Trophy now, it is a fabulous trophy, it is the toughest to win!
In 2025, we start the playoff journey with 6 teams still standing. This year have had great competition as well as equal parity in the 32 years that are league has existed. I am very proud of all of the GMs for the hard work, dedication, and commitment to the CJIBL!
Today starts the Divisional Wildcard round Best of 5 between #2 vs. #3 teams in both divisions.
In the Jersey Metro Division, it's #2 seed Florida vs. #3 seed Topeka (winning one game tiebreaker playoff vs. Harlem). During the regular season, Topeka won the series 8 - 6 over Florida. This has been a long-standing rivalry for 30 years and should be an instant classic series! The well-deserved #1 seed Matawan Riversharks await the winner.
In the Connecticut Woods Division, its #2 seed Morris County vs. #3 seed California. During the regular season California won the series 9 - 5 over Morris County. Morris County has shown the prowess of managing very well, while California has the veteran leadership. An excellent matchup that both teams earned. The Defending CJIBL Champ #1 seed Chicago Wildcats await the winner.
No interviews between the 5 other GMs were taken.
Chicago's statement, "The Chicago Wildcats are the Defending Champions, and we will defend it admirably and plan to keep the trophy right where it belongs, in our hands!"
Good luck between the 4 teams playing in the Divisional Wildcard round while the #1 seeds Matawan and Chicago rest up and await the winners!
