(That rule is NOT changing but the comparison needs to be made for salary cap purposes)
FLA $541
LOU $442
CHI #397
TOP $374
IND $374
HAR $369
CAL $349
BED $322
MAT $321
COL $316
CONN $225
MC $223
That is a mean average of $354.4, median of $359 and mode of $374. And that's with 35 players and not 40 players. Range of $541 - $223 = $318.
Salary Cap is not set at the mean. There needs to be a variance to offset the balance of the range. Half of the range to add/subtract to each side of the equation is $318/2 = $159
Mean/Average $354.5 (rounding off) split between both side of the high and low range $159/2 = $79.5 added/subtracted to both sides would be
High $354.5 + $79.5 = $434
Low $354.5 - $79.5 = $275
As a league, looking at the numbers that I see and from my college statistical analysis classes, we seem to be right on target with the salary cap $$ that we have put forth, and trying to stay even with the influx of different magazines and salaries that we have for players throughout the years.
The CJIBL Salary cap rules allow for the top teams to gather as many top players as possible, having to trade veterans for rookie players without salaries to roll the dice and try to win while balancing that within the CJIBL rules.
My personal opinion is that $425 is a good number at this time, but the lowest I would even consider, is $400. I am open to discussion on this matter but look at all the information that is given.
Hope GMs were able to follow the numbers that I put forward and sorry if anyone didn't understand.
I would like to set a salary cap for a 2-year time period due to the changing of the magazines and to give teams a window in which to work within a given time period. Final decision will be made during the draft weekend.
