Reds general manager Nick Krall told reporters Friday that Noelvi Marte suffered a hamstring strain while playing in the Dominican Winter League.

Marte was examined on Friday and is expected to be fully recovered and ready to go for the start of spring training. The dynamic 22-year-old top prospect hit the ground running in his first taste of big league action in 2023 — slashing .316/.366/.456 with three homers, 15 RBI and six stolen bases in just 123 plate appearances with the Reds. He’s expected to open the 2024 campaign as the team’s primary third baseman.
