I suppose those on top get a lot of hate but at the same time you have to appreciate greatness when it is among us. Clayton Kershaw didn't really have anything left to prove but he certainly cemented himself as a CJIBL Legend, as he took the ball on Saturday night with the World Series on the line, pitching with a bum shoulder, and delivered a 5 inning scoreless gem for a +42 to propel the Florida Headhunters to its 10th CJIBL World Championship.
Louisiana fought the good fight but ultimately came up short for the 2nd straight year in Game 7. This club has a lot to be proud of and we don't expect this club to go quietly into the night. They'll be a force for years to come.
Sonny Gray was a tough luck loser throwing 6 innings of 1 run ball but had 0 run support and was saddled with the loss for a +1. Louisiana had a big game from JD Martinez HR +28 and decent contributions from Realmuto +13, Castellanos +8, and Pham +6.5 off the bench.
GM Dan Polack would like to personally congratulate GM Mike Burke on a great series. You're the Dragon we're all trying to slay and trying to figure out how to do that is what it's all about. Thanks to everyone else in the CJIBL family on another exciting season, and looking forward to seeing everyone again in March.
Florida wins Series 4-3
Florida Headhunters 2023 CJIBL World Champions!!!
