Michael Conforto underwent shoulder surgery and will miss all of the 2022 season.
A statement from Conforto's agent Scott Boras: "“Last week Michael Conforto underwent successful shoulder surgery by Dr. Neil ElAttrache. He is expected to make a full recovery and return to play in spring training 2023.” The outfielder was a free agent and likely to get a multi-year deal, but he landed on his right shoulder during a workout in January that have made the surgery a necessity. There should still be interest in Conforto in the offseason, but he'll almost assuredly be looking at a one-year deal after missing all of 2022.

Moving OF M. Conforto to IR since he is out for the year and will move Chris Sale to the 41-player roster since he is the closest to being activated from the 60-day IL sometime in June, hopefully for Chicago!
