THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Even in uncertain times, I know Jesus watches over me.

Jesus said, “Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” - Matthew 10:31 (NIV)
In 2016, my wife of 53 years suffered a stroke. Memory loss and balance problems reduced a once vibrant, active, social, travel-loving woman to someone who needed help with even the most basic daily tasks. Fortunately, I was still healthy and strong and could care for her. We moved into a senior-housing facility. What we once thought was a bright future suddenly darkened, but we put our trust in the Lord as we faced the uncertainties and challenges of a new way of living.
When we got settled in our unit, we noted that all the rooms in the facility had names. Ours was named “Sparrow’s Nest,” and we were reassured of the Lord’s care by recalling Matthew 10:31 — “Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”
Daily we are aware of God’s blessing that in our senior years my wife and I are together — and that each new day God’s caring eye is on us.
TODAY'S PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank you for the blessings of our younger years and for your continuing love and care as we face the future in our older years. Amen.
