Yes that would be the consequence of removing Andrew from the line of succession. Personally I don t see a problem if the York Princesses are also removed from the line of succession. Not really a loss for the monarchy. This obsession with succession rights and remaining in line to the throne is a bit outdated if you ask me. This day and age if you have 2-4 family members as spares things should be fine. Now the list is endless. Can't they fix that issue with a new act as well: limit the succession to 2 generations of the main line: so besides the Wales' and Sussexes only the children of Anne and Edward would remain in line...

I think there were two separate although related measures underway here: one was the stripping of all titles - and even that happened in two sequences (York, then Prince removal) - and now the still incomplete removal from the line of succession. The second and final will surely be accomplished in a separate parliamentary act from the earlier title removals which are already accomplished. I think the second may also be taking time as further investigations continue into AMW's possible improprieties as a special economic envoy. Not sure on how someone can be removed from the line of succession and yet their offspring remain in it? At least with the Duke of Windsor there was a logical consistency in stating his (theoretical) descendants would have no place in the succession....

To point 1. If parliament does not act soon the damage to the monarchy will be even greater. Charles did not strip his brother of his status as a temporary measure and he needs an act of parliament to finish the job. Whatever happens in the courts. Andrew is out.

While the world has been reading the headline in recent days of a "possible" act of the UK parliament to remove Andrew M-W from the line of succession, I was wondering about the extent of that possible act, how it would be implemented and when. So for instance, these questeions:

1. Will such an act be held back until such time as all the current investigations into AMW are completely concluded - allowing the authorities to understand also who else in his immediate family might be complicit in his business improprieties?

2. Will the successional removal - if it happens - be initiated in the Commons, move to the Lords and then given the royal assent? Was that the previous procedure in the 18th century with the Act of Settlement? Or was that earlier Act much more extensive, and this possible future Act one that limits the exclusions to Andrew - and his direct descendants too?
