I just read about this upcoming visit by the King and Queen to the Vatican State planned for next week (23 October). Linked article from Vatican News highlights the main purpose of the visit as being ecumenical and a new honour to be given by the Pope in the course of the visit - "King Charles will be formally granted the title Royal Confrater of Saint Paul." I wonder if there'a an actual ceremony when that will occur and which will be viewable later? Also - what is the usual arrival ceremony into Vatican City for a head of state on a state visit? Are the Swiss Guard on parade or anything ceremonial like that? The article also doesn't mention where the royal visitors will be staying within the Vatican State or elsewhere in Rome - perhaps they fly back to the UK same day?
