I could not escape the media coverage of the Sussex couple's 'tour' of Colombia and wondered how is it possible they are still been given the royal treatment abroad (with government officials in attendance, formalities and celebrity hysteria and heavy security) when they are visiting in a non-royal, professional capacity. Their current status (non-working royals) and what's left of their charity work certainly does not warrant this kind of grand reception let alone national and international media coverage. I felt I was watching an over the top personal branding campaign orchestrated by a slick media and communications company copying the royal playbook. In some media it was even labelled ' a royal tour'. Local governments and law enforcement seem to be involved on these visits. Why?
